File|Export
to SPSS File
Export to SPSS File allows you to
convert your ASCII fixed format (*),
ASCII comma delimited (*.csv),
ASCII tab delimited (*.tab or
*.tsv) or Excel (*.xls,
or *.xlsx) input data file to
SPSS (*.sav) format.
IMPORTANT: WinCross
Table Name (Setup|Tables) is
used to create the SPSS variable name. Verify that your WinCross
Table Name
is valid as an SPSS variable
name. Spaces in Table
Name will automatically be
converted to underscores when exporting to SPSS (e.g. "T1
NEW"
becomes "T1_NEW"). |
If your
data file is ASCII fixed format:
- Use the column breaks header to
assign column breaks in the ASCII data file.
- To save the column breaks format
for this data file, select Save Column
Breaks on the Export Wizard
dialog and select the folder and file name for saving this format.
The file extension defaults to (*.wcd).
- To load a previously saved column
breaks format file for this data, select Load
Column Breaks on the Export Wizard dialog and select
the folder and file name. The column breaks format file extension
defaults to (*.wcd).
- Select OK
to convert the ASCII fixed format data file to SPSS format.
- Enter a file name in the File
name field of the Save SPSS
File dialog.
- Select Save
to save your ASCII fixed format data file as an SPSS data file.
- WinCross also creates an SPSS syntax
file (filename.sps) and a
data layout text file (filename.txt)
that lists the Orig Loc, Var Name and Var
Label for the SPSS file created.
If your data file is ASCII comma delimited (*.csv), ASCII tab delimited (*.tab or *.tsv)
or Excel (*.xls, or *.xlsx)
format:
- Enter a file name in the File
name field of the Save SPSS
File dialog.
- Select Save
to save your ASCII comma delimited (*.csv),
ASCII tab delimited (*.tab
or *.tsv) or Excel (*.xls, or *.xlsx)
data file as an SPSS data file.
- WinCross also creates an SPSS syntax
file (filename.sps).
Note: SPSS
Variables
cannot be created for Indexed tables. |
