Search|Replace
Search|Replace
is activated for all files, except
data files.
Find:
Enter the string to use
as the search criteria in this field. Alternatively,
you can paste information from the clipboard. To do so, right-click within
the field, then click Paste from
the context-sensitive menu.
Replace
with:
- Enter the string you want to use
as replacement text or paste it from the clipboard.
- To
delete all occurrences of the string entered in the Find: field from
your file, leave the Replace with:
field blank.
Match
whole words
Searches
for occurrences that are whole words, rather than those that are part
of a larger word.
Match
case
- Distinguishes between uppercase and
lowercase characters.
- When Match
case is selected, WinCross finds only those instances in which
the capitalization matches what you entered in the Find
what: field.
Direction|Forward
Searches from the top down
through the selected text for the search criteria specified.
Direction|Backward
Searches
from the bottom up through the selected text for the search criteria specified.
Scope|Selection
- Replaces all occurrences in the selected
text.
- Job
file syntax matching is not valid with Scope|Selection.
Scope|From
cursor
Replaces from where the cursor
is placed in the file to the top or bottom of the file depending on the
Direction selected.
- Select Find
Next to begin a search or to locate the next instance of the
string.
- Select Replace
to replace a single occurrence of the string entered in the Find: field with the string entered
in the Replace with: field.
- Select Replace
All to replace all occurrences of the string entered in the
Find: field with the string
entered in the Replace with:
field.
- Select Close
to close the Replace dialog
box without conducting a search.
Job file syntax matching (for job files only)
Match
text of type:
- Choose this option to filter the
search/replace criteria to specific sections/elements of the job file.
- Use the dropdown menu to select the
section/element of the job file (for example, Preferences
Section, Glossary Section,
Glossary Comment, Tables
Section, Table Name
etc.).
- Job
file syntax matching is only valid if the Scope
option being used is From cursor.
An
"End of text has been reached" message appears if the string
is not found.
