Define Comparison Groups
(ExpressTabs)
Define Comparison Groups allows
you to select which banner columns to include for significance testing
when the Perform significance testing
option check box is enabled.
By
default, significance testing is done for all banner columns. You can
use Define Comparison Groups to
create alternative comparison groups to the WinCross default.
To add
a comparison group:
- Click on a column to add it to a
comparison group. You can toggle between including and removing that
column from the current comparison group.
- Once a selection has been made for
the current comparison group (for example, Group
1), a new empty comparison group is added (for example, Group 2).
- Select more than one column per comparison
group.
- You can easily create a comparison
group for each variable selected by choosing the Test
by Variable option. The Test
by Variable option will always
add a new comparison group for each variable selected in the Variables for banner columns list.
For example, if you selected the variables GENDER,
INCOME and EDUCATION
(in that order) for the banner columns and you choose Test
by Variable on the Comparison
Groups dialog, 3 comparison groups will be added.
Group 1 will have the columns
for GENDER highlighted, Group 2 will have the columns for
INCOME selected and Group 3 will have the columns for
EDUCATION selected.
- You can easily create a comparison
group that will test all of the columns in the banner by choosing
the Test All option. The Test by All option will always add a new comparison group
with all columns for all variables selected in one group.
- Banner columns for a comparison group
can also be added by selecting a comparison group and entering the
banner column numbers in the Edit
selected comparison groups as text edit box. Banner column
numbers can be separated by comma's (2,4,6),
specified as a range (2-4)
or a combination of the two (2,4,6-8,10).
A comparison group can be selected by clicking in any cell for that
comparison group or selecting the comparison group name (for example,
Group 1) on the left side
of the comparison group grid.
To delete a comparison group:
- Select the comparison group by clicking
in any cell for that comparison group or selecting the comparison
group name (for example, Group 1)
on the left side of the comparison group grid.
- Choose the Delete
Group n option (for example, Delete
Group 1).
- A comparison group can also be deleted
by selecting the comparison group and choosing the Clear
Group n option (for example, Clear
Group 1). Once the comparison group is cleared and OK
is selected to close the Comparison
Groups dialog, the cleared comparison group will be deleted.
Edit selected comparison groups as text
- Banner columns for a comparison
group can be added by selecting a comparison group and entering the
banner column numbers separated by commas in the
Edit selected comparison groups as text edit box. Banner
column numbers can be separated by comma's (2,4,6),
specified as a range (2-4)
or a combination of the two (2,4,6-8,10).
A comparison group can be selected by clicking in any cell for that
comparison group or selecting the comparison group name (for example,
Group 1) on
the left side of the comparison group grid.
- The Edit
selected comparison groups as text option can be helpful
when you need to add many columns to a comparison group for a
wide banner and you know the column numbers to include in the comparison
group.
Test All
You
can easily create a comparison group that will test all of the columns
in the banner by choosing the Test All
option. The Test by All option
will always
add a new comparison group with all columns for all variables selected
in one group.
Test by Variable
You
can easily create a comparison group for each variable selected by choosing
the Test by Variable option. The
Test by Variable option will always
add a new comparison group for each variable selected in the Variables
for banner columns list. For example, if you selected the variables
GENDER, INCOME
and EDUCATION (in that order)
for the banner columns and you choose Test
by Variable on the Comparison
Groups dialog, 3 comparison groups will be added. Group
1 will have the columns for GENDER
highlighted, Group 2 will have
the columns for INCOME selected
and Group 3 will have the columns
for EDUCATION selected.
Clear Group n
- Choose Clear
Group n (for example, Clear
Group 1) to clear all of the selected columns for an existing
comparison group.
- A comparison group can be deleted
by selecting the comparison group and choosing the Clear
Group n option (for example, Clear
Group 1). Once the comparison group is cleared and OK
is selected to close the Comparison
Groups dialog, you will be prompted with a message about the
empty comparison group and asked if you would like to continue. If
you select Yes to continue,
the empty comparison group will be deleted. If you select No,
the Comparison Groups dialog
will remain open and you can add columns to the empty group or delete
the empty group.
Delete Group n
- Select
a comparison group by clicking in any cell for that comparison group
or selecting the comparison group name (for example, Group 1)
on the left side of the comparison group grid.
- Choose the Delete
Group n option (for example, Delete
Group 1).
