Scan variables into a single table (ExpressTabs)
The Scan
variables into a single table option
of ExpressTabs
provides a way to create one table
from multiple variables using Scan
(S) logic when variables selected are contiguous and using the
OR logical
operator when variables selected are not contiguous.
- One table is created from the variable(s)
selected.
- The selected variables must all have
the same number of code values and their code values and value labels
must match.
- Value labels from the data file for
Variables for rows selected
are used as row text.
- Value labels from the data file for
Variables for banner columns
selected are used as banner text.
- The variable label from the data
file for the
first Variables for rows
selected is used as the table title, displayed to the left of the
row text.
- The variable labels from the data
file for Variables for banner columns
selected are used as the banner text spanning all banner columns for
that variable.
- Contiguous variables can be selected
by using the Shift key or
by dragging the mouse down until all desired variables are selected.
- Non-contiguous variables can be selected
by using the Ctrl key when
selecting variables from the list of Variable
for rows.
- If a column variable is not selected,
row variables are processed using a "Total
Answering" column.
- If you are selecting a group of non-contiguous
variables and do not want tables processed immediately as you select
variables, deselect the Auto-run
tables each time a variable is selected option and choose the
Run Tables option once all
row and column variables have been selected.
