Fill Missing Values with Means
The
Data
tab lets you replace missing values with means for selected cells, records
or variables:
- Highlight the data values for a given
variable or the entire column for a selected variable.
- Right-click anywhere on the Data
tab.
- Choose Fill
Missing Values with Means from the right-click context menu.
- Choose the number of decimal places
for the mean value. If the number of decimal places selected results
in a value wider than the existing Field
Width for the selected variable(s), a message will be displayed
indicating that one or more variables had their widths or decimals
expanded in order to contain the data. If you select OK
on this message dialog, the widths and/or decimals will be expanded.
You can check this expansion using the
Variables tab
for the selected variables.
- Optionally, you can enter an Additional value to be treated as missing.
For example, you might also want the code value of "1" treated
as a missing value and replaced with the mean for a selected variable(s).
- Cells with missing values for the
selected cells, records or variables will be replaced with the mean
value for the associated variable.
