Edit Crosstab

Edit Crosstab allows you to build your crosstab. You can add/edit titles, subtitles, table components, banner components, display options, filters/weighting, comparison groups, and the appearance of the crosstab.

 

Table Components and Banner Components are built from Components created using the Select Variables option under the Tabulation dropdown menu.

 

Run Crosstab

  • Once adding table components and banner components Run Crosstab allows you to produce your crosstab(s).

 

Back to Create/Modify Components

  • This options will take you back to the create/modify components screen and allow you to add/remove components.

  • Once you've finished editing your component you can then go back to Tabulation | Crosstabs and adjust your crosstab as needed.

 

Titles

  • You can add a Title and/or a Subtitle to your crosstab.
  • Select the Edit option next to each to enter or change the Title and/or Subtitle.
  • Choose Save.

 

Table Components

  • Choose Table Components to add, remove or rearrange table Components.
  • Components with more than one Logic set can only be used as a Banner Component.
  • Click anywhere on a component in the list to highlight a single component to display Component information and Logic set information.
  • Only one component can be highlighted at a time and the Component information and Logic set panels display information about the highlighted component.
  • If no Component information is displayed, a component in the list has not been highlighted.

 

Add

    • Choose Add to select table components.
    • Select one or more components and choose OK.

 

Remove

    • Enable the check box for the desired component(s) and choose Remove.

 

Move Up/Move Down

    • Allows you to change the placement in the list of table rows.
    • You can choose between Move Up or Move Down.
    • Enable the check box for one or more components and choose Move Up or Move Down.

 

Banner Components

  • Choose Banner Components to add, remove or rearrange banner Components.
  • Components with more than one Logic set can only be used as a Banner Component.
  • The purpose for a component with more than one Logic set is to create a nested banner when used as a Banner Component (for example Gender within Income where Logic Set 1 is the logic set for Income and Logic Set 2 is the logic set for Gender).
  • Click anywhere on a component in the list to highlight a single component to display Component information and Logic set information.
  • Only one component can be highlighted at a time and the Component information and Logic set panels display information about the highlighted component.
  • If no Component information is displayed, a component in the list has not been highlighted.

 

Insert Total Column

    • Selecting insert total column will give a column displaying the total answering for each component..

 

Add

    • Choose Add  to select banner components.
    • Select one or more components and choose OK.

 

Remove

    • Enable the check box for the desired components and choose Remove.

 

Move Left/Move Right

    • Allows you to change the placement in the list of banner components.
    • You can choose between Move Left or Move Right.
    • Enable the check box for one or more logic items and choose Move Left or Move Right. Move Left moves the component up in the list but will display in left to right order when reports are created. Move Right moves the component down in the list but will display in left to right order when reports are created.

 

Options

Select Options to adjust the cell content, statistical rows, and significance options.

 

Cell Content

    • Enable the check box for each Cell Content display option desired. You can display Frequencies, Vertical percents and/or Horizontal percents.
    • Choose from Total and Total Answering as the Base for vertical percents. Total Answering is the WinCross Executive default.
    • Select the number of Decimal Places to display for each cell from the dropdown menu. You can choose between 0, 1, 2 and 3 decimal places.

 

Statistical Rows

    • Enable the check box for each Statistical Rows display option desired. You can display Mean, Median, Standard deviation and/or Standard error.
    • Select the number of Decimal Places to display for each statistic row from the dropdown menu. You can choose between 0, 1, 2 and 3 decimal places.
    • For Summary of Means tables, you can enable the check box for Standard deviation and/or Standard error to display these statistics with the Mean.

 

Options

You can perform significance testing, define comparison groups, choose a minimum base, show the significance footnote, show % sign on percents, hide blank rows, hide the total column and hide the total, total answering, or no answer  row.

 

Perform significance testing

    • Enable the Perform significance testing check box to show significance indicators on your report.
    • Comparison Groups must be defined to show significance indicators on your report.

 

Define Comparison Groups

The Perform significance testing check box must be enabled to define comparison groups.

 

Minimum base

    • Enable the Minimum base check box to assign  a minimum base frequency for a column to qualify for significance testing.
    • Click on the dropdown arrow to assign a value from 1-99.
    • The WinCross Executive default is "30" if the Minimum base check box is enabled.

 

Show the significance footnote

    • Enable the Show the significance footnote check box to display the significance footnote at the bottom of your report.
    • Show the significance footnote is enabled for a new crosstab as the WinCross Executive default.

 

Show % sign on percents

    • Enable the Show % sign on percents check box to display the % sign for percents on your report.
    • Show % sign on percents is enabled for a new crosstab as the WinCross Executive default.

 

Hide blank rows

    • Enable the Hide blank rows check box to hide rows that are blank on your report.
    • Hide blank rows is enabled for a new crosstab as the WinCross Executive default.

 

Hide total column

    • Enable the Hide total column check box to hide the total column on your report.
    • Hide blank rows is not enabled for a new crosstab as the WinCross Executive default.

 

Hide total row

    • Enable the Hide total row check box to hide the total row on your report.
    • Hide total row is enabled for a new crosstab as the WinCross Executive default.

 

Hide total answering row

    • Enable the Hide total answering row check box to hide the total answering row on your report.
    • Hide total answering row is not enabled for a new crosstab as the WinCross Executive default.

 

Hide the no answer row

    • Enable Hide the no answer row check box to hide the no answer row on your report.
    • Hide the no answer row is is enabled for a new crosstab as the WinCross Executive default.

 

Filters/Weighting

The filters and weighting tab allows you to apply a weight variable to your crosstab as well as different type of filters.

 

Weighting

  • Choose a weight variable (if desired) from the dropdown list of available variables.
  • Selecting a weight variable from the dropdown list of variables will automatically enable the Use a weight variable check box.
  • Disable the Use a weight variable check box if you do not want your crosstab weighted.

 

Filters

  • Use a base filter allows you to apply a filter to the entire crosstab. This filter is derived using basic Logic and cannot be changed by the viewer..

  • The advanced filter allows the viewer to specify the base they want for the crosstab using basic Logic.

  • Simple filter(s) allows the user to filter based on specific variables within the data file.

    • First select add simple filter

    • Choose the component(s) you would like used as a simple filter.

    • Once added the viewer can now use the simple filter(s) to filter the entire crosstab.

    • Delete Simple Filter allows you to delete any simple filter(s) that have been added
